Lots of things going on this summer! We're getting ready to host our first weddings, for one! The large covered area we were using for wood storage is now cleaned up, gravelled, and will soon have power for lights. We'll post pictures when it's ready.
The Washington Youth Summit filled all of our spaces for a few nights last week and had a wonderful time touring and learning about things at Mount Rainier National Park! It was great to have an opportunity to work with the Park Service to bring those kids out!
The Packwood Station arboretum has now been opened up for public use, and the signs will arrive soon. We donated the space, Destination Packwood contributed the picnic tables, and the Windermere office cleaned up the extra wood and pine needles to get it ready. It's a wonderful group effort to make the space usable for people who need a place to stop for a picnic lunch!
Thanks to everyone who's rented the Bunkhouse, the Alpine Suite and the Annex through the wet holiday season ... hope you had a great time even with the rain! And thanks to all of you who came in to check out what we have in the store. We're so excited that there's fresh snow on the mountain now! The store will be open weekends from January through Memorial Day, and then we'll go back to full-time through the summer. Hope to see you! Come in and let us know you saw the webpage!
Well, hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We did, and are very thankful for everyone who's stopped by The Store! Our opening went well, and we appreciate the helpful comments and suggestions for things people might want to buy when they're staying in Packwood cabins! Keep them coming!
I also had time to take a great hike on the Packwood Lake trail in the snow on Friday. It was a gorgeous sunny snowy day ... but my daughter, niece and sister were off the hook for photos since I left my camera at the station.
Only 2 more days until The Store is open! The sign is up and our ad came out in the Highway Shopper today! Click the page to the left to enlarge it and have a look!
Our merchandise is in, and we're set up and ready to go. It's very exciting!
On the way back over White Pass tonight, it was so gorgeous! Snow covered trees, and the lights on in the lodge ... we're ready to start skiing!
Thanks for the nice comment, Gene! Our "soft opening" will be the weekend before Thanksgiving, so I do hope you'll come by when you can! I posted some photos of progress on our Facebook page.
We're working on our opening inventory for the store, and it's looking great! We have shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and souvenirs for Packwood, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens and White Pass; books, plush woodland animals, puzzles, and some beautiful local art and photography!
Scott and Bobbi Augur have started some tree work at the station ... They do such a great job, and we're excited to get the arboretum area cleaned up and ready for some picnic tables for our guests to use next summer! It's right next to the Alpine Suite, and it'll be awesome!
Went to the Rainier Mountain Festival in Ashford today ... got a great new backpack that I can't wait to use!
We had a fun and gorgeous Labor Day weekend at the Station with some of the kids and Grandma and Grandpa Meyers! Parked lots of cars, found some fun things at vendor stands, and ate a lot of good food! The remote control helicopters seemed to be a favorite ... Jake and Grandpa both left with one!
