Whitewater Rafting

The Tieton River is just over White Pass, and during the "Flip Flop," from the last week in August into early October, the river runs fast and fun!
Here's what one rafting site says about the Tieton: "Non-stop action with hardly a breather, this is the fastest moving and fastest dropping river in the state of Washington. Just upstream from where your trip begins, the Tieton River blows out of Rimrock Dam, giving you up to 19 miles of non-stop whitewater - and it's even the warmest river water in the state, too! Blast through Wild Rose, High Noon, and the unforgettable Waffle Wall. Rugged volcanic basalt cliffs line both sides of this mountain canyon, and the sun shines bright in these dry and arid hills. Our guides love this river above all others!"
Some of these professional rafting companies will even pick up and drop off your group from Packwood Station for your trip. Contact them, and let them know you heard about them from Packwood Station, and when you'll be staying. Some will provide a barbecue lunch or dinner with your trip at the riverside launch or landing camp. A two night stay at the station means you can raft one day, and hike or tour Mt Rainier the next!
